Help & Safety
Tools and tips for having a good time and staying safe.
Meet in public
Choose busy public places for first meetups. Tell a friend where you're going.
Go as a group
Group activities are a great way to meet people with less pressure.
Keep personal info private
Don't share your home address, financial info or passwords. NectarLocal never shows your precise location.
Block anytime
Blocking hides you from each other everywhere: Discover, chats, activities and communities.
Report concerns
Use Report on any profile, message, post or activity. Reports are confidential.
Age-appropriate by design
Teens and adults are kept in separate spaces, enforced on our servers. Report anyone who seems to be in the wrong age group.
How to report
Tap Report on a profile, message (hover → flag), community post, Who's Down? post, or activity. You can also block at the same time. Our moderation team reviews reports, and can remove content, restrict or suspend accounts.
Is NectarLocal a dating app?
No. NectarLocal is for friendships and activity partners. Romantic or sexual advances violate our Community Guidelines.
Why can't I message someone?
Direct messages open after you've both chosen to connect. Activity and community chats are open to their members.
How do weekly creation limits work?
Limits reset every Monday at 12:00 AM Pacific. Editing doesn't use a slot; cancelling doesn't give one back. Joining is always free and unlimited.
How are recommendations chosen?
We combine your interests, distance, timing, what your connections who share their attendance are doing, novelty, popularity, price and listing quality. Each card says why it's shown. You can reset or turn off personalization in Settings.
Where does map data come from?
OpenStreetMap contributors, DataSF (City of San Francisco), and, when enabled, Ticketmaster and Foursquare. Each place shows its source.
How do I delete my account or get my data?
Settings → Your data / Delete account.
